Tammy Duckworth, a PPIA endorsed candidate running for US Congress in Illinois’ 8th District, supports safe and legal abortion unlike her opponent Congressman Joe Walsh, who was quoted on Thursday, October 18, 2012 saying:
"There is no such exception as life of the mother, and as far as health of the mother, same thing, with advances in science and technology," he said originally. "Health of the mother has become a tool for abortions anytime, for any reason."
Many women have brought to light their traumatic experiences of terminating a wanted and planned pregnancy to save their own life using social media, including actress Martha Plimpton from TV’s Raising Hope. Another story that has come forward is that of Congresswoman Jackie Speier of California who needed an abortion to save her life.
In order to educate the public on how safe and legal abortions are still needed in many cases to save a mother’s life, Tammy Duckworth and Representative Jackie Speier will be holding a press event tomorrow.
