Campaign Spotlight: Dee Beaubien

Dee Beaubien
Independent
Illinois House, 52nd House District of Illinois
Email: Dee@VoteDee.org
Website: votedee.org
Issues: Taxes, Budget, Job Creation, Fiscal Responsibility, Lawmaker Accountability

Dee Beaubien is 100% pro-choice and has been endorsed by Planned Parenthood Illinois Action. Dee Beaubien knows that women don't turn to politicians for advice about birth control, mammograms, or cancer screenings. She believes that the government should not be involved in a woman's personal medical decisions.

It is very important to vote for Dee Beaubien because her opponent, David McSweeney, doesn’t trust women to make personal medical decisions without government interference. He has said that he wants to “eliminate abortions.” McSweeney has been endorsed by extreme organizations that want to ban all abortions with no exceptions – not even for rape victims. McSweeney also opposes age-appropriate, medically accurate, comprehensive sex education.

Biography:
Dee Beaubien is an independent voice for our community. Dee is fed up with the partisan bickering that runs rampant in Springfield. As a family counselor and mental health professional, Dee helped people through some of the most difficult times in their lives. She wants to take those same problem solving and compromising skills to Springfield to end the partisan gridlock.

Beaubien believes in giving back and doing what’s right. She has been active in the community for the past 40 years. She currently serves as a Trustee of the Hospice Foundation of Northeastern Illinois, where she was also board chair for three years, and as an Advisory Board Member for the Barrington Area Council on Aging and Barrington Youth Services. She also helps raise money to support the Pepper Family Hospice Home in Barrington.

Her legislative priorities would include promoting our region as a place to do business, forcing lawmakers to take a pay cut while making it harder for them to raise their own pay and demanding fiscal responsibility while reforming the way Illinois’ crafts its budget. She will also push for a new law that freezes property taxes when home values decline.

Beaubien graduated from Northwestern University with a Bachelors of Arts and a Masters of Arts, Counseling Psychology. She was married to her late husband, Mark, for 47 years. She has two sons and five grandchildren.
