2011 Chicago Disability Pride Parade

This Saturday, July 23rd, don't forget to head downtown to show your support at the 8th annual Disability Pride Parade! Disability Pride represents a rejection of the notion that the physical, sensory, mental, and cognitive differences from the non-disabled standard are wrong or bad in any way, and is a statement of self-acceptance, dignity and pride. It is a public expression of the belief that disabilities are a natural part of human diversity, a celebration of heritage and culture, and a validation of disabled experience.

The parade staging area and starting point is located at 401 S. Plymouth Court. The actual parade starts at 10:30 a.m., followed by entertainment and performances in Daley Plaza. Come as a spectator or as a participant! Register with the ACLU here to be a part of their truck, or look at the official Disability Pride Parade website here for more opportunities.
