Giving Thanks for Mothers

As we prepare for holiday travel and family feasts this Thursday, we at Planned Parenthood of Illinois, are giving thanks for our mothers and grandmothers and pledging to take action to ensure that all mothers have access to the care they need.

We know that hundreds of thousands of women die every year due to pregnancy and childbirth complications, yet many of these deaths are preventable.  That's why we've been working hard to secure the reproductive health and rights of women and their families here (the U.S. ranks 41st globally in maternal health) and in some of the poorest places in the world.

Planned Parenthood is proud to partner with Christy Turlington Burns in the release of her documentary film No Woman, No Cry. Together, and with your help, we seek to increase dialogue and action on issues of maternal and child health, including access to safe abortion.

The documentary tells the stories of at-risk pregnant women in four parts of the world, including a remote Maasai tribe in Tanzania, a slum of Bangladesh, a post-abortion care ward in Guatemala, and a prenatal clinic in the United States. Watch the trailer here.

I totally agree with this, also keep in mind that showing your parents respect and showing them you love them are 2 different things
