Way to Go, Illinois!

"Illinois has now become the first state in the nation to pass legislation since the passage of federal health care that embraces the implementation of these reforms." - Jim Duffett, Executive Director of the Campaign for Better Health Care

This week, in a 76-41 vote, the Illinois House of Representatives passed the Health Care Justice Implementation Act (SB3047), with bi-partisan support. This bill, previously passed by the State Senate, confirms Illinois's support of the federal health care reform bill, and is ready to be signed into law by Governor Quinn.

We want to thank the State Congressional leadership, namely State Senator Dave Koehler (D-Peoria) and State Representative Mary Flowers (D-Chicago), for their dedication to this bill!

Sen. Koehler explained the benefits of this bill, "The Health Care Justice Implementation Task Force will make sure the state of Illinois is ready when the federal insurance reforms take effect. With the task force's help, we will be able to guarantee everyone in Illinois can get insurance quickly and efficiently at a minimal cost to the state."

What is the next step?
Contact Gov. Quinn and urge him to sign SB3047, the Health Care Justice Implementation Act!
