Candidate Spotlight: Pat Quinn

Planned Parenthood Illinois Action endorses Pat Quinn for Governor for his committment to women and families in Illinois.

Pat Quinn was sworn in as Governor of Illinois on January 29, 2009, after the impeachment and removal of Governor Rod Blagojevich from office. During Quinn's time as Governor, he has focused on fighting governmental corruption and unfair taxes.

Stance on choice: Quinn has a consistently supportive voting record when it comes to a woman's right to choose.

When PPIA endorsed Quinn, he was proud to accept the support of the pro-choice community, as demonstrated in this quote from a press release on the Pat Quinn for Illinois website:

"As Governor, I am fully committed to supporting Illinois women's access to all reproductive health services. As we go forward, I will continue to work closely with advocacy groups throughout our state to create policies and initiatives that respect the right of every woman in Illinois to make her own reproductive choices."
